Airport Information : About Perth Airport : Overview
Perth Airport is the international and regional gateway to Western Australia. Strategically located as one of Australia's closest airports to South East Asia, Europe and Africa, Perth Airport is Australia's fourth largest airport in terms of passenger traffic.
Located only 12 km from the heart of Perth, the airport is part of a 2,105 hectare site, which has the capacity to expand to meet projected commercial aviation demand well into the 21st century.
As the international, and regional gateway to Western Australia for commercial aircraft, freight and passengers, Perth Airport is a key contributor to the State's economy.
A 2003 economic impact study showed that the airport contributes $850 million each year in salaries and wages, and provides direct and indirect employment of almost 16,800 jobs. (Economic Research Australia 2003.)
Perth Airport's primary aviation facilities include:
a two-runway system able to handle both existing and planned intercontinental commercial aircraft;
an international terminal building with five aerobridges and seven aircraft stands;
a domestic terminal complex with a total of five aerobridges, 19 aircraft stand-off positions and three freighter positions;
air freight, aviation fuel and in-flight catering facilities;
aircraft maintenance hangars and associated infrastructure;
general aviation and corporate facilities;
air traffic control facilities; and
24 hour rescue and fire fighting services.
Terminals
Terminal 1 (International) is located on the eastern side of the main runway and is positioned between this runway and a future wide spaced parallel runway.
The Domestic Terminals are located on the western side of airfield. Qantas operates Terminal 2 where their domestic services arrive and depart, adjacent to that is the WAC operated Terminal 3 (Skywest & Virgin).
